How to participate and FAQ

Welcome to The Classic Console Challenge!

Whether you missed out the first time around or you're looking to relive them, this challenge presents a list of classic 90's console games that everyone should play at least once!

How to participate

1. This site doesn't require an account, but progress is tracked via RetroAchievements.org so you'll need an account there.
2. Set your system up and start playing!
3. Beat the games to claim your Challenge Completion Badge.

"What is RetroAchievements?"
It's a community-driven project that adds achievements for classic games. Link

"Is retrochallenges.org affiliated with RetroAchievements?"
No, but it uses their API to track your progress.

"Which achievements do I need to earn for each game?"
All 'progression' type achievements.
One of the 'win condition' achievements, if the game has any.
Hardcore mode is not required.

"How were the games chosen for this challenge?"
The list focuses on titles that were important to gaming history, with increased weight towards popularity. Care was also taken to avoid genre repetition where possible.
